e-Radio, Inc. (ERI) provides a complete smart-grid communications solution. The company operates wireless communications networks and designs and manufactures FM receiver modules that are integrated into a variety of smart grid devices. The company?s products are focused on residential and small commercial customer demand management programs using the global standard FM-RDS technology as the communications platform.
ERI?s current software solution enables the secure one-way delivery of data content to receiver devices via a network of existing FCC licensed FM radio subcarrier broadcasting signals. Content is primarily in the form of text messages and commands delivered to residential smart grid devices such as a programmable communicating thermostat (PCT), smart appliances, air conditioning load control switches and in-home display units.
ERI is actively working with radio broadcasters in the US and Canada and a number of smart grid device and home automation companies. The company has developed proprietary receiver modules that are integrated into smart grid devices for the receipt, decoding and display of message content and acceptance of remote commands. ERI?s technology has been tested and validated through utility company pilot programs, government and university research and with various device partners.
ERI is currently developing enhanced communications capabilities via FM-RDS and the integration with other wireless protocols. It is also developing a smart charging communication system for electric (EV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) for automakers and electrical utility companies.
ERI's technology can also by data delivery channels such as radio broadcasters, to produce and disseminate a variety of real time information like news, weather, sports results, and spot advertising.
